Having your birth documented will be one of the most special things you have ever financially invested in. Reliving your baby’s first breath, first latch, the first time your baby grasps your finger…

But it is more than that. You become part of my family. I leave at moment’s notice when needed, don’t leave town while I’m on-call, I’ve missed birthdays, events, nights of sleep, and many things to be with you. Birth is intimate, raw, and full of vulnerability. It can be fast and furious or steadily slow. It can take unimaginable turns and sometimes requires healing. This is something I don’t take lightly, and I hold onto each birth I attend - I can remember specific details from each of the births I’ve been at (over 200!). I enjoy having a camera in my hand and giving you beautiful images, but also know I am fiercely passionate about birth. Being informed, educated, supported, and having control over your birth experience means more to me than images. Announcement

This is where we begin our journey. Around 10/12 weeks we meet for a quick (ten minute) session so you’re able to announce when you’d like (or just special keepsakes). This is when it starts to feel really real!

Maternity

Around 32-35 weeks we’ll meet again for some really sweet photos before your baby is in your arms. This is a family event so please bring your spouse and kiddos (fur babies also welcome!). Your session will be an hour before sunset, up to 2 outfit changes, and around 50 images. You’re also welcome to borrow one of the many dresses from my client closet to save you that hassle/cost!

Labor

I’m quietly documenting from active labor (around 6/7cm) until after delivery. I really try to leave lights alone and respect your birthing atmosphere. My camera is mirrorless so you won’t hear “snap snap snap” or hardly know I’m there.

Delivery

During delivery I’m capturing whatever we have discussed prior. (This is what dads are always most concerned about… “she’s photographing WHAT?!”) I’m able to capture more at home than in the hospital but that doesn’t stop me from getting those first breaths. These, of course, are the most intimate images and are completely up to you if you feel comfortable sharing.

Postpartum

I stay for up to two hours after delivery for all the yummy skin-to-skin, weight + measures, first holds, and siblings meeting your baby if applicable/time-appropriate.

Newborn

If you choose to add this session on we’ll focus on your sweet little one’s details from his/her juicy lips to toes to your family’s connection. These can take place in your home or my studio and will be around 2 hours. You can expect 50 images and are also welcome to borrow from my client closet. You don’t need to bring a thing for baby (unless you have something special), and a prep guide will be sent out before. I try to get your baby’s photos done around that 2 week mark while they’re still super sleepy.
